Print ad design for the Deluxe 34 Lap Steel stand, made to look like a gig poster.
I was approached by the owner and manufacturer of Deluxe 34 to create a quarter-page print ad to run in Guitar Player magazine. The purpose of the ad was to showcase the ease of use of their lap steel stands by allowing the player to switch from one instrument to another at any point in a song. This could, in turn, attract a wider variety of musicians to the instrument. The client wished to focus on advertising to Rock and Blues musicians, instead of the typical steel guitar genres. The client and I directed the photo shoot together, then the image was crafted by merging two of the shots together. I decided to treat it with bold type, loud color-treatments and dynamic over-prints to emulate a gig poster.
